The automatic border controls with the walk-through system illustrates that this project not only addresses technological and security issues, but also contributes to strengthening the social and economic cohesion/reinforcement by providing an efficient, intelligent and easy to use system for boarder passage. Another socio-economic dimension connected with this project is the increased capacity of travellers, both European and international, that Europe will handle. This will have a positive impact on the tourism in particular and on the European economy in general. Surely this will represent a dramatic paradigm change in travel. The Digital Passport Project will act as a harmonised platform concept for the European Union.
